Trudeau Minister Says National Security Is Fine After Allowing ISIS Terrorist Into Canada

Ottawa, ON –Today, Justin Trudeau’s Public Safety Minister said that letting an alleged ISIS terrorist into Canada in 2018, and then awarding him Canadian citizenship just before he was arrested in a foiled ISIS terror plot in the Greater Toronto Area, showed how Canada’s “national security system should work.”

Ahmed Fouad Mostafa Eldidi, who was arrested a few weeks ago after he allegedly planned to commit a terror attack, had been granted a visitor visa by the Trudeau government in 2018, and quickly made a refugee claim after arriving in Canada. He was then granted refugee status in 2019, became a permanent resident in 2021 and a Canadian citizen in 2024. This was allowed to happen even though Eldidi is alleged to have appeared dismembering a prisoner in an ISIS video published in 2015.

On top of this, this terror attack was stopped only after a foreign government alerted the RCMP to Eldidi’s intentions at the 11th hour. But today, Minister LeBlanc told a House of Commons’ Committee that “this is the way that the investigative and national security system should work.”

Trudeau’s Minister couldn’t be more wrong: If not for that late tip from a foreign government, it’s highly likely many innocent Canadians would be dead today.

Justin Trudeau has repeatedly claimed that his government has thorough screening at our borders, he has claimed he takes terrorism and national security seriously, but this foiled terror attack shows that this isn’t the case.

Eldidi never should have been allowed into Canada, let alone granted Canadian citizenship. Canadians deserve to feel safe in their own communities. Only Common Sense Conservatives will take action to keep Canadians safe.
